For my International Public Relations course I was tasked with doing a Public Relations critique on UNICEF's operations in Yemen. UNICEF works heavily inside of Yemen and does a remarkable job targeting audiences who may want to donate towards their efforts. I was highly impressed with UNICEF's ability to make their target audience, who has never experienced the hardships of war understand what it is like to be a citizen of Yemen during this crisis. Through the usage of photos, videos, and first hand accounts UNICEF tugs on the heartstrings of all viewers.

Currently, Yemen is suffering from the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. With over 24 million people, 80% of the population is in need of humanitarian assistance. Since 2015 conflict between the Sunni majority government and the Shia minority Houthi's have caused the nation to spiral into a humanitarian crisis. Saudi led air strikes, weaponizing of humanitarian aid and the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the conditions inside of Yemen. Luckily, UNICEF in partnership with many local organizations are fighting for the rights of Yemeni children. To learn more about UNICEF's efforts please read my case study available in the PDF above.
